At Work For Employers
The At Work Program helps employees address weight issues with convenient Weight Watchers meetings held at the workplace.
An increasing number of companies are calling on Weight Watchers to help their employees deal with weight control issues that can affect their health and productivity on the job.
The number of companies hosting The At Work Program from Weight Watchers has increased over 70 per cent since the introduction of its popular POINTS® Weight-Loss System in the fall of 1997.
The At Work Program from Weight Watchers is the same weight loss plan that is delivered in weekly Weight Watchers meetings throughout North America. However, instead of meeting at a Weight Watchers centre or at a local community centre, At Work Program members gather in a conference room or other area in the workplace. Here, a Weight Watchers leader conducts a private weigh-in followed by a group meeting where the essentials of healthy weight loss, good nutrition, and behaviour modification are explained.
The Key to the Weight Watchers method is the spirit of support and motivation that comes from the group meeting experience where workers from all levels of the organisation and from various backgrounds, gather on a level field.

"For many people who are busy juggling work and family responsibilities, having Weight Watchers available in the workplace is their best chance at dealing with their weight control issues," said Karen Miller-Kovach, lead scientist at Weight Watchers International who is responsible for the content and delivery of the popular TurnAround®; plan."

Companies generally sponsor the Weight Watchers At Work Program in blocks of 10 to 15 weeks, with individuals enrolling in groups of 20 or more. Many employers financially subsidise the program while others simply provide a convenient time and on-site meeting space.
More than 8.5 million people have lost over 86.6 million pounds since Weight Watchers launched the POINTS Weight-Loss System in the fall of 1997. Currently, approximately one million members attend 35,000 weekly Weight Watchers meetings in 30 countries worldwide. In North America, approximately 675,000 people attend over 20,000 meetings each week. To find out more about Weight Watchers At Work Program, phone 1-800-651-6000. |
