Your body constantly wants to maintain equilibrium and so a plateau is its natural response to weight loss. Have your Leader look over your POINTS® Tracker and discuss with him or her ways to help you rev up your weight loss again. Read over the Plateau Rescue pamphlet you received in your meeting and get back to the basics!
Here are some strategies that may also help:
Focus on portion sizes.
Refer to the Portion Smart booklet and spend some time on the Portion Primer section of the site.
Flex Plan: Track for the week.
Have you gotten out of the habit of tracking everything? Write down all the food you eat—even half-portions again this week, then print it off and take it with you when you talk with your Leader. See if you are staying within your daily POINTS Target and weekly POINTS Allowance. If not, cut back until you are back within your POINTS budget.
Core Plan®: Comfort Zone. Try to be conscious of your body's hunger and fullness signals. Review the Stop, Rest, Assess method in your Eat Wisely booklet. Make sure you are tracking your weekly POINTS Allowance this week as well.
Increase activity. Over time, your body adapts your aerobic or strength training routines. It becomes more efficient and expends less energy during that activity, which can slow weight loss. Increase the duration or intensity of your workout. Even better, try a new activity.
Be positive and give yourself credit for how far you've come. Remember, losing weight slowly is the key to keeping it off. Make a commitment to attend your next meeting and visit WeightWatchers.ca more often.
