Now I weigh less than I did in high school!
* People following the Weight Watchers plan can expect to lose 1-2 pounds per week.

Jessica lost weight on a prior Weight Watchers program and is continuing on the PointsPlus® program.

When Jessica found herself comparing her own stomach with a pregnant friend’s, she knew she had to lose weight. See how she used Weight Watchers Online to do it.

The ‘a-ha’ moment

I was at a friend’s baby shower. She was 8 months pregnant, and we were playing a game where we had to guess how many inches her waist was. She’s really thin, so as a joke I decided to measure my own waist. I was exactly the same size as my pregnant friend. That’s when I knew I had to do something. So I subscribed to Weight Watchers Online and started following the Plan.

Seeing results

The first few weeks I lost about one or two pounds per week. That really meant something to me. I think people get upset when they don’t lose 10 pounds that first week. But I read an article once that said, if you lose two pounds, go to your fridge and take out two pounds of butter. When you see that it just feels so much more tangible. I knew I didn’t gain 44 pounds in a week, so I knew it wasn’t going to fly off like that. I was happy with my slow and steady loss.

Planning meals

Typically, I’d plan my days in the morning. I’d plug in what I was going to have for breakfast, lunch and dinner. However, there are times that unexpected things happen. Like a co-worker will come in with doughnuts — I love doughnuts. I can still have one, but then maybe I won’t have pasta for dinner; I’ll have a more vegetable-based meal. I like having that flexibility. I can make adjustments so I never feel deprived.

I used to eat out for practically every meal. Now I cook all the time. Breakfast is probably my favorite meal. I usually make egg whites with peppers, onions, salsa and light sour cream —delicious.

I also love to bake — which is probably one of the reasons I needed to lose weight. I still bake, but I’ve found some lightened-up recipes on that are really easy and still satisfy my sweet tooth.

Getting to goal

I started Weight Watchers Online thinking I’d never get below 150 pounds, but after working the Plan, I got there and then so much farther. I think people often think they can do it on their own, by writing calories in a notebook or something like that. But you’ll fall off the wagon. Weight Watchers Online keeps all the info you need online. I can go back almost 2 years and see what foods I was eating, how much I weighed, what worked, what didn’t and see my progress. That really keeps me motivated.

I’m a graphic designer and I’m in school for my master’s degree. It sounds silly, but before losing the weight I don’t think I would have had the confidence to do that. It’s easy going to college the first time, but I just wouldn’t have had the confidence to speak up in class because I always thought people would just stare at me thinking about how heavy I was. Now I’ll raise my hand, I’ll ask questions, I’ll speak out. I’m not afraid.

I’m still the same old girl, but I’m just so much more comfortable in my own skin. Shopping now is dangerous for me. I love to go to vintage stores and they actually have my size now. The only regret I have is that I didn’t do this sooner.
